Hello loves. Today I have an exciting review for you. My second MAC lipstick! MAC lipsticks are always a big investment since they are quite expensive, so I was quite anxious when buying the cult favourite shade: Whirl. Let’s see if it lives up to the expectations and the hype surrounding this lipstick!
I think that everyone whom owns a MAC lipstick has a special memory about their first lipstick of the brand, whether it be good or bad. Mine is good. My first ever lipstick of MAC was Mehr (read review here) and was bought together with my best friend. It was our first lipstick by MAC and the same colour. How funny. A fond memory of mine. But I was running out of Mehr, so I thought it was time for a new one and along came Whirl!
All MAC lipsticks come in the same sleek and recognizable packaging. If you see this packaging, you know it is a MAC lipstick. The packaging is formed in the shape of a bullet. It’s sturdy and has a good click system. In the black colour, you can see little sparks of silver. There was one colour in my collection that was certainly missing and that was brown. So I was on the hunt for a brown colour when I came across Whirl.
Whirl has a matte finish but applies really creamy but does dry down after some time. The pigmentation is yet again on point and not patchy. Whirl, despite being matte, is not completely transfer-proof. When you drink or eat something, the lipstick will come off the slightest bit. When we talk about the longevity, Whirl lasts for a good 5-6 hours. It fades in a good way and leaves a bit of a stain.
The colour Whirl can be best described as a dusty rose colour. However, don’t let the word ‘rose’ mislead you. Whirl is browner than ‘rose’ in my opinion. Especially on my skin tone. Also, it’s important to remember that even though Whirl leans more toward the cool toned side, it has the slightest bit of warmth in it, making it really complimentary for a myriad of skin tones.
Overall I am a big big big BIG fan of Whirl. It has become a staple and an everyday colour for me. It was exactly what I was looking for and I definitely understand the hype! What do you think? Do you own any of the MAC lipsticks?
Lots of love and see you next time!
