You might’ve seen this product make an appearance in my recent makeup haul and today is the day to review this bad boy. Let’s get started!
I ordered this beauty on a whim. I was quite immune when the hype about the Stila Cosmetics Glitter & Glow and after that the Shimmer & Glow started. People were raving so much about this product but it didn’t appeal to me. It did seem like a nice product to have but I felt like it wasn’t worth the price tag and quite useless. How different can it be from spraying your brush with some setting spray? How the tables have turned once Beauty Bay had a discount though. I actually thought I had bought the Glitter & Glow but it turns out I didn’t and bought the Shimmer & Glow, oops!
The packaging is quite simple but beautiful at the same time. The packaging reminds me a lot of the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipsticks, haha. The Shimmer & Glow comes in a golden cardboard box which I forgot to photograph. The actual Shimmer & Glow comes in a cuboid tube with a rose gold lid and rose gold details. It has a doe-foot applicator which is flat on both sides and rounded at the top. I don’t like to directly apply this product on the eyes as it can get quite messy. I like my looks to be precise, haha. Therefore, I pick up some product with a brush and apply it to the eyes. Handy about the packaging is that it has a silicone stopper at the entrance. This ensures that you don’t have too much product on the applicator and prevents the product from drying out. You get 4.5ml and the Shimmer & Glow retails for €27, that is taking into account the currency rate on Beauty Bay! It’s also available on Cult Beauty for £23.
Guys, I was so wrong about this product. It’s nothing like spraying your brush with setting spray. I have nothing in my collection like this. First of all, the pigment of the Shimmer & Glow is amazing. It has an amazing colour payoff and gives such a metallic sheen. It’s a liquid formula which is slightly whipped preventing it from being too watery. It’s not patchy nor streaky and dries down pretty quickly. However, you can still manage to blend it to perfection within a time frame. It’s also not tacky and budge-proof.
My favourite trait about this product is that it is very long lasting. I wore this for about 10 hours and it hardly disappeared. The Shimmer & Glow also hardly creased which is amazing!
There is one thing I dislike about this product. Once the liquid eyeshadow dries down, it seems like it starts to pull the skin of my lids together. Almost like the skin of my lids shrinks together. At first, it feels quite cold on the lids but while drying down it starts to sting ever so slightly. This lasts about 2-3 minutes before the feeling fades. It feels rather uncomfortable, however, once I take the product off, I don’t see any redness or signs of irritations. It’s really weird.
The Stila Shimmer & Glow in Kitten is a vibrant nude pink and has hints of silver in it. It’s a very versatile shade which is packed with pearl base and doesn’t contain chunky or micro-glitters. It’s a pure sheen!
This is a look I previewed on Instagram with the Magnificent Metals Shimmer & Glow in Kitten. I really love how this turned out and as you can see, other matte shades blend really nicely in combination with the liquid eyeshadow! For the mattes, I used the Soft Glam Palette.
Even though I bought the wrong product, I’m still immensely impressed by the Stila Magnificent Metals Shimmer & Glow in Kitten and I already have my eye on another colour in the range. I’m also tempted to buy one of their Glitter & Glows!
The Stila Magnificent Metals Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow retails for £23 on Beauty Bay and on Cult Beauty .
What do you think about this product and do you own any of the shades?
Lots of love and see you next time!
