Current Makeup Routine: Summer Glow & Gloss

It’s the 21st of June when I’m writing this post which means that summer is finally upon us! We can finally start dreaming about travelling, going to the beach and eating lots of ice cream! However, it’s also time for a new makeup routine!ย

20180620-410212968-01It has been awhile since my last makeup update. About two seasons ago to be specific, haha. When summer comes, I like to pound my face with all the hydrating products I can find. Skincare is always important because no matter the season, I’m always a dry gal. So, my skincare routine doesn’t alter too much when the season changes. However, my makeup does change significantly. Winter means subtle makeup with berry and warm tones. I like to keep everything quite simple and a bit smokey. However, summer means more glow, glossy lips and an overall hydrated look. I steer away from matte lips and powder products. I just want to glisten during summer. If you want to know how I get this Dewy and Glossy look, keep reading!

Step 1: My Favourite Dewy Primer and Foundation Combo.
My favourite way to achieve a luminous base is a good combo of your primer and foundation. Obviously, as a dry gal, it makes a lot of sense to not use a mattifying primer or a foundation with a matte finish. However, if you’re an oily skin type, I would recommend using a matte foundation with a primer which isn’t hydrating but does give you some glow. My favourite foundation as of late is the Maybelline Fit Me Luminous & Smooth. It’s a lightweight, light coverage foundation with a glossy finish. I combine the Maybelline Fit Me with the Catrice Prime and Fine Nude Glow Primer. I used to hate this primer because of the smell, however, I’ve gotten over it and love it a lot. A great primer!

Step 2: Concealer and Powder
The primer/foundation combo doesn’t have a lot of coverage, which I like. However, I do like a bit more coverage around my nose and eyes. I have been using the Catrice Liquid Camouflage non-stop and I haven’t stopped mentioning it on my blog, haha. This concealer isn’t too matte and therefore it doesn’t take away the luminosity of the face. For powder, I use the Essence All About Matt Fixing Compact Powder. It’s also a ride or die. I will be using this powder around the eyes and smile lines, to prevent creasing. I won’t be using it anywhere else, otherwise, it will take away the shine and it will look unnatural on my skin.

Step 3: Brows and Mascara
I’m currently using the Nyx Cosmetics Micro Brow in Ash Brown and it is amazing. I really prefer it over the pomades I used before. It looks a lot more natural.

Step 4: Bronzer
I love using bronzer. Especially during the summer. It gives you a flawless, sun-kissed hue and makes you look healthy. I don’t use blush during the summer. I already turn incredibly red in my cheeks because of the heat, so I don’t want to emphasize that any more. I use the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Light and I love it. However, I am searching for another bronzer that I love more, so do leave me suggestions!

Step 5: Highlighter
We’re already quite glistening but you might want to go up a notch. A highlighter is you’re best friend when it comes to dewy makeup. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills X Amrezy Highlighter which is still the tiniest bit too dark for me but I love it so much! I like to put highlighter on the apple of my cheeks since they’re quite chubby. I don’t really have defined cheekbones, my face is all around round haha.

Step 6: Lips and Setting Spray
I love glossy lips during the summer. I love using the Catrice Volumizing Lip Booster. It has the slightest tint of pink to it and isn’t sticky at all. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of in the beginning was the smell. It smells strongly of mint. The setting spray I love to use is the Catrice Prime and Fine Dewy Glow Fixing Spray. Another dose of luminosity.

That’s it for my makeup update and dewy skin routine. I hoped you liked this little update! What are some of your favourite products/methods/finishes for summer?
Lots of love and see you next time!

Little note:
I have been playing around with my camera to see if I feel comfortable to start recording some videos. I was wondering if you would like to take a look at my blog posts or Instagram and comment down below which products/makeup looks you would like to see in a video. Or other recommendations! Already a massive thanks. x

  1. Oh girl, I’m currently loving that Catrice Volumizing lip gloss, I wear it every day. Also wasn’t fan of smell, but got over it quickly because I love the tingly effect and feel of the gloss. Love the makeup, so simple, young, fresh and pretty. xx

  3. I love your makeup! Its light, glowy and perfect for summer! Totally my style! That amrezy highlight btw is killa! Also, just curious but how do you use the bronzer? do you do it all over or just as contouring?

    1. Thank you so much and yes, the amrezy highlighter is amazing! I use the bronzer all over because it’s slightly too warm toned to contour with! And I like an overall sunkissed look! ๐Ÿ™‚
