Hey loves,
I know, I know. It has been a while but I am finally back in business. Today I would like to post a very cool review of a very cool product. The Limited Edition Liquid Lip Color in Trick by Sugarpill!
I must admit that I have been incredibly bored by makeup in the last two months. Nothing that brands have released has intrigued me and felt repetitive of what I already had in my collection. October has landed upon us and that means that brands come out with Halloween collections or holiday collection. Again, I was really bored by most collections until I saw a particular product by Sugarpill. Their limited edition Liquid Lip Color in the shade ‘Trick’.
Sugarpill says that Trick is a richly pigmented witchy black with a supernatural blend of metallic orange and green sparkles. The liquid lip should have a buildable coverage and a yummy cinnamon scent. It should have a matte finish with a reasonable wearability. Trick is also vegan and cruelty-free which is amazing! I’ve been trying to extend my vegan makeup collection. It retails for โฌ16-17.95 depending on the retailer and is available on Beautybay and Boozyshop! I would be fast if I were you because they’re selling out quick.
Packaging
The packaging is spooky-luscious. The external packaging and by that I mean the cardboard box is the best and the cutest packaging I have seen in a while. The little details truly make it amazing such as the cats, the colours and the dripping pattern. I might be a bit biased though because I adore cats. I won’t throw this box away. That’s for certain.
The tube itself has the typical Sugarpill Liquid Lip Colors’ packaging. It’s a transparent tube with an ombrรฉ effect and with a white cap. The gold and pink details give the tube a cute and nice touch. I love the little heart with the cross lock and the dripping pattern. It’s so simple but very cute.
The applicator of the liquid lipstick is a standard curved doe-foot applicator which picks up a nice amount of product. The shade name can be found on the bottom of the tube with again a little cat as decoration. I mean, how can you not adore this?
Formula
The formula of the liquid lipstick isn’t the best one I have tried but that might be because of this particular colour. First of all, the cinnamon scent isn’t my favourite. I love cinnamon but this one smells too artificial and chemical. It’s bearable and doesn’t linger too long but it’s unnecessary, in my humble opinion. As Sugarpill previously stated, Trick has a buildable coverage and medium pigmentation. You need a few layers to achieve full opacity and lots of sparkles. I do like the fact that Trick has medium coverage because it’s a black colour. It easier to wipe away or correct mistakes and to be more precise in application. Black is a tricky colour and being buildable makes it easier to work with.
That being said, two or three layers of the liquid lipstick does make it a bit chunky and gritty feeling on the lips. Which isn’t the most pleasant feeling you can experience. Trick has a matte finish with a subtle sheen. The sheen is provided by the metallic green and orange sparkles. The sparkles are very hard to catch on photos but I did try the best to my abilities. The reflection of the glitter particles is really stunning. I would love to wear this for Halloween or anything that requires a fun black lip!
Swatches
I hope you can see the sparkles well enough. This was my 598th attempt of catching the sparkles right and it’s still not good enough. I think this liquid lipstick by Sugarpill is so unique and I didn’t have it in my collection. It’s a lot of fun to wear and to see the green and orange shimmers do their job by sparkling in the light. Trick is obviously not an everyday lippie but I do very much like it. I even like it so much that I forgive the cinnamon scent and the grittiness. I’m really glad to have it in my collection!
What do you think of Trick? Which Halloween collection have you purchased?
Lots of love and see you soon!
