Hey loves,
Today I will be reviewing one of the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blushes and tell you what I think of it and if these blushes are as good as people say.
Hourglass says that the Ambient Strobe Blush is a hybrid blush that combines the illuminating effects of their Strobe Lighting Powders with modern hues to instantly brighten cheeks for a seamless, glowing, lit from within colour. Basically a combination of a highlighter and a blush. However, Strobe powders have a softer highlight effect.
The packaging is absolutely beautiful. It comes in a reflective gold container, which is smaller than I imagined it to be, but it gives a very classy feeling. It contains 4.2 grams and is available in 4 shades. I bought the shade Brilliant Nude which, according to Hourglass, is a beautiful deep amber blush blended with their Strobe Lighting Powder in Brilliant Strobe. I bought it because of Allana Davidson’s recommendation in her yearly favourites video.
The Strobe Lighting Blush has a marble design which is stunning. Apparently, every marble pattern is different so no two blushes are the same. Some have more of the highlight shade whilst others have more of the blush shade. I would say that I have something in between.
Brilliant Nude is truly brilliant. It is an absolutely beautiful shade whilst also being very shimmery. I would say it is a peachy amber with gold shimmer and the slightest hint of pink. It’s a very neutral shade making it easy to wear with almost every look. I really love this shade because it’s almost like a bronzer but the slight whisper of pink and the shimmer makes it look like a healthy, natural sheen and colour on the face. Almost as if your skin has been sunkissed with a bit of a burn.
The formula is very unique. The powder is soft and finely milled and therefore very blendable. The pigmentation is medium and buildable. Personally, I prefer blushes that are buildable and hard to over-do. I actually do not mind the shimmer in the blush because it isn’t metallic at all. The shimmer provides a beautiful luminosity to the skin. It can be a bit much for people who prefer matte blushes. Also, my cheeks never look dry or cakey when using this powder.
Full Face
I’m only wearing the blush in the pictures down below. That way, you can really see the effect and colour of the blush. It was a bit tricky to catch on camera.
I would like to conclude my review be saying that Hourglass has nailed every single product I have bought so far. I really love this blush and even though I had to get used to the shimmer, it has grown on me and I love the luminosity it gives and the depth it creates. Matte blushes seem flat on the face whenever I use them now, in comparison to this one. I absolutely love the colour Brilliant Nude and I can not fault it. The only flaw it has is the price because, at โฌ38, it isn’t exactly cheap. If you have some money to spare or you want to save up for a nice luxurious blush, I would definitely go for the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Blushes.
That’s it for this review. What do you think of this blush and of Hourglass Cosmetics as a brand? I’m really impressed so far.
