Nabla Close-Up Concealer

Hey loves,
Today I will be reviewing another product by Nabla Cosmetics. It has been a while since I did a review on them but I finally decided to buy their Close-up concealer and here we are. Interested to see how this concealer performs? Let’s go!

It has been a few months since this concealer got released and I was planning to buy it but then I saw Jkissa’s review and it wasn’t really splendid. The concealer appeared to be very dry and not suitable for dry skin. So, I was a bit hesitant and put off buying this concealer. However, recently I have been thinking about doing a ‘Full Face of Nabla’ video for my youtube because Nabla is still a relatively unknown brand by many and I thought it might be interesting to hear about their products and how they perform. So, that partly the reason why I ended up buying the Close-up Concealer in the end, haha. Also because I’m always intrigued and compulsive about buying makeup.4

Nabla Cosmetics first came out with a total of nine shades in their concealer range. I know what you’re thinking. Nine shades? That’s all? Unfortunately, it is but I still think it was a pretty decent range of shades with a good diversity of the colour spectrum. A lot of people seem to forget the fact that Nabla is a relatively new, European (Italian) brand and the big makeup industry is mostly based in America. Nabla doesn’t have the budget that a lot of big makeup brands have, so the fact that they came out with more than four shades is rather surprising and very pleasant. Normally European brands, for example, Essence or Catrice come out with four shades of concealer or foundation, all within the very light spectrum and slightly different undertones but that’s it. Not a medium shade or deep shade, nothing. So this is truly a big investment and achievement from Nabla if you look at the European market/industry. Nabla also recently extended their range to twelve shades.

Now, what does the Nabla Close-up Concealer claim? They claim that this concealer is full coverage and long-lasting. It’s supposed to have a creamy formula which will cover all imperfections for a flawless complexion with a natural skin-like finish. A concealer which is supposed to be close-up proof. The Nabla Close-up Concealer retails for €15,90 and is available on Nabla’s website and Beauty Bay. I chose the shade Porcelain which is currently the lightest shade in the range.

The packaging is very reminiscent of the Tarte Shape Tape concealer. It has a big doe-foot applicator and a purple cap. The concealer contains 4 ml and retails for €15,90 and is available on Nabla’s website and Beauty Bay. I chose the shade Porcelain which is currently the lightest shade in the range. It’s actually a bit too light for my liking but I can make it work. The Close-up Concealer is vegan and cruelty-free.

The formula is a bit meh for my skin type. It has a nice coconut scent, very reminiscent of the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. It can be a bit overwhelming if you’re sensitive to scents though. The formula is quite liquidy, not as thick as I’m used to but blends out beautifully and very easily. You have to be quick to blend it out though because it sets quite rapidly. The finish is definitely skin-like at first but after a couple minutes, it turns quite dry and starts clinging to dry patches. I can make it work when I moisturise heavily but it’s not ideal. Even then, it still looks a bit dry and it emphasises every fine line I have. It has medium to full coverage and hides darkness very well. A little goes a very very long way.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t the biggest fan of this concealer. It’s actually the first Nabla product that didn’t work for me. I really love all of their other products but this was their first complexion product and I’m a bit disappointed. The product is probably more suitable for people with a different skin type than mine. More combination to normal to oily skin, haha.

That’s it for today’s post. What do you think of this concealer and have you ever tried anything by Nabla?
Lots of love and see you next time!
