Hey loves,
Today’s review is very exciting. Today I will introduce you to the new Nabla Cosmetics Foundation and Pressed Powder. It’s their very first foundation and pressed powder and I have some thoughts. Let’s get to it!
To say that I was excited when I saw the announcement is an understatement. I have been waiting for complexion products by Nabla for such a long time. I remember that they had their old concealer which was available in two shades (I think) and it’s so cool to see how this amazing brand has grown in the last 2-3 years. I have said it before and I’ll say it again. Nabla Cosmetics is one of the best brands in terms of eyeshadow and other products. Everything I have bought, I have loved and used to death, except for their concealer (review here). So let’s see if I’m in love with their first base products.
CLOSE-UP FUTURISTIC FOUNDATION
Let’s start with the foundation. The Close-up Futuristic foundation promises a weightless foundation that evens out the complexion in a seamless second-skin perfection. It supposed to have exceptional blendability and will smooth the skin with a soft focus effect. A medium but buildable coverage will provide you with a long lasting luminous matte finish. It’s suitable for all skin types and available in 20 different shades. It contains 30ml and is cruelty-free and vegan!
I purchased the shade L10 which is the lightest colour in the range. It’s actually a tad too light for me but I can make it work. I have a dry skin type and foundation, especially if they’re matte, usually don’t agree with my skin. Unfortunately, this matte foundation is no different but surprisingly, I can still make it work. Let’s start with the positives. The Close-up Futuristic Foundation is indeed weightless and very light. You can barely feel it on the skin. It evens out my complexion very well and the coverage is a true medium but buildable to full. It covers up the redness of my cheeks but pimples need a bit more coverage to fully disappear.
The finish is very weird. It definitely looks matte but it still has some luminescence to it without being dewy. I really love the finish this foundation gives. Also a big positive is that this foundation is quite long-lasting and doesn’t irritate my skin. However, as with all matte foundation, it clings to dry patches and emphasises fine lines. I feel like I look older when I wear a matte foundation and this one is no different. It looks very dry and flaky on my nose and my T-zone. Which is probably the biggest con of this foundation. I really don’t like how it looks there. I also have to moisturise heavily when using this foundation to prevent the drying aspect of it. Weirdly enough, I still love how my makeup looks in the end. It’s one of those matte foundations that I can stand.
CLOSE-UP SMOOTHING PRESSED POWDER
Next up, the Close-up Smoothing Pressed Powder. According to the Nabla website, this is a lightweight and superfine pressed powder that provides the skin with a natural matte finish. It should minimize pores and fine lines for a flawless complexion. It should melt into the skin with a creamy touch and control any shine. It’s supposed to be suitable for all skin types and is available in 3 shades. This powder is also vegan and cruelty-free.
Personally, this powder is my favourite product of the Close-up collection. It’s set my concealer or base product beautifully without drying out my skin. It doesn’t cling to dry patches and it doesn’t emphasise texture or fine lines. I can see the soft-focus effect and my skin looks really smooth when using this powder. The powder itself feels really creamy to the touch. It’s a very special feeling. I don’t see a minimisation of my pores though but I don’t really have big pores so. I have purchased the shade Light and I must say that it will be a tad too dark if you are lighter than me. It darkens the foundation and isn’t completely translucent which is something to note. I have been using this powder non-stop since purchasing it and it has found its way into my daily makeup routine. If you’re looking for a pressed powder variant of the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting powder, this is similar but different at the same time.

So lovely people, that’s it for today’s review. I really enjoy both of these products. The foundation isn’t my ride or die but it is very good quality and I think people with normal to oily skin will enjoy it even more. It’s a bit finicky for me, having dry skin and all that,ย but I can definitely make it work and I still enjoy how it looks in the end. The powder is absolutely stunning and I definitely recommend it. It’s so creamy and looks stunning on the skin.
