Hey loves and welcome back to Peculiar Belgian!
Today I will review the new Colourpop Just My Luck palette. A monochromatic green dream or a bit of a missed opportunity? Read more to find out!
It’s been hard to keep up with Colourpop’s launches this year and it has also been very hard to resist buying them. I have to admit that I occasionally broke my low-buy because of them. They make a ‘low-buy’ incredibly hard and I just cracked. CRACKED UNDER THE PRESSURE. One of those examples has been the Just My Luck palette. I saw a green palette on Instagram and I immediately bought it via a group order.
The packaging is really nice. The palette is made out of plastic and I wish it wasn’t. I’m a really clumsy person and I have let palettes fall multiple times. Usually, when they are plastic, they break. I just prefer cardboard packaging, haha. This palette is also vegan and cruelty-free! The Just My Luck palette has nine shades and retails for $12 which is about β¬10. I found this such a good price and especially for people in the USA. I found a group on facebook that organises group orders with several brands, like Colourpop. It severely cuts down customs and shipping. In total, I paid β¬13,40 for this palette, which is incredible. If I would order alone it would be β¬10 + β¬12 shipping + β¬30-40 customs. You see how much I save?
The formula of this palette is really nice. All of the mattes blend very nicely and without issue. The pigmentation and opacity are also good. I have no complaints about the mattes. Even the darkest greens blend without a problem. The shimmers are true shimmers, not foiled ones. Don’t expect a metallic punch but a soft wash of shine. They have good longevity and are easy to blend into the look.
The one thing that really bothers me about this palette is a lack of cohesiveness in terms of the colour scheme. Some of the mattes/shimmers are more like a blue-green whilst you also have some mattes/shimmers that are olive. The combination of the two doesn’t work and looks odd on the eyes. I feel like this palette is a bit of a missed opportunity for Colourpop.
