Colourpop Lip Products – Review & Swatches

Hello lovelies and welcome back to Peculiar Belgian!
Today I want to talk about the lip products created by Colourpop Cosmetics. All of their stuff is incredibly affordable but which products are actually worth picking up? And in this case, which lippies? Lippie stix? Crème Lux lipstick? Ultra Satin Lippies? Let’s discuss their lippies, shall we!

I think we all know that Colourpop has a MASSIVE range of product and pretty much launches a new collection every Friday. So I can imagine things getting a bit overwhelming when ordering for the first time. These are some of the bits and pieces from their lip collection that I have picked up during the last couple of months. I will describe the different kind of finishes, longevity and colours between each range. And I’ll tell you what my favourite colours are 😉

Ultra Glossy Lip

I only have one shade of the Ultra Glossy Lip’s and that is the colour Champagne Mami. A beautiful pearlescent rose gold colour. I don’t have to explain this to you, I think, that the Ultra Glossy Lip is a gloss formula. If you’re looking for a subtle sheen of colour but a moderate shine level, this might be the formula for you. It’s very moisturising and not tacky or sticky at all. It’s a bit thick on the lips, so if you want something a bit more lightweight, skip this formula. You have some glosses that feel like a lip balm, this is not one of them. It’s more like the traditional gloss without the extreme stickiness. I personally don’t mind the thickness because it doesn’t feel too heavy on the lips.

The shimmer of this shade is noticeable but you don’t look like a disco ball, so don’t worry. It’s very similar to the shimmer in the Fenty Gloss Bomb! I have to be honest and admit that I have only recently started wearing this a lot. I used to stay away from this product because of the heavy caramel scent. It was too much for my sensitive nose. But I persevered and started wearing it more to finish it and I actually don’t mind it anymore.
This product retails for $7 (€6/£8) on colourpop.com or Ulta Beauty.

Ultra Satin Lip

The Ultra Satin Lips are a heaven-sent if you don’t like traditional liquid lipsticks. These bad boys have a satin-matte formula with intense pigmentation. Truly insane, I swear. They’re very creamy and super comfortable on the lips. The texture is slightly mousse-like but it still has quite a lot of slip to it making it glide on to the lips. These don’t have an artificial scent to them. It just smells like makeup, weird I know haha.

The Ultra Satin Lips are really beautiful but have one con. You have to be quite careful because the formula can smear all over the face. I would recommend using a lip liner with this to give it some longevity and prevent the smearing. I, unfortunately, don’t have swatches for you. The picture got lost. The Ultra Satin Lip also retails for $7 and is available on Colourpop.com (I added some links to make it easier for you, hence the repetitive Colourpop.com).

Another gloss formula by Colourpop but how is this one different from the Ultra Glossy Lip? The So Juicy Lipgloss is THICK. It is slightly tacky and just very thick in general. Because the formula is so thick, the lipgloss can feel a bit heavy on the lips. This is the lipgloss that comes nearest to an original lipgloss from your childhood. It does have positive qualities. It is very moisturising and has an amazing amount of shine, even more than the Ultra Glossy Lip.

However, it’s very uncomfortable to wear on the daily because of the thickness. I only use this for very editorial looks or just Instagram looks. I would not wear this in public because it feels annoying and way too heavy. It also smells like artificial mint and very heavily so. The So Juicy Lipgloss also retails for $7 but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Crème Lux Lipstick

After liquid lipsticks and glosses, it’s finally time for some OG lipstick action. This formula is very creamy and applies like butter. The pigmentation is really lovely but I only have two nude shades to judge this on but I’ve heard great things about the darker shades too. The formula is also very lightweight and I sometimes forget I have anything on my lips.

Colourpop describes this formula as hydrating and creamy and even though that’s the cause upon initial application, the formula dries down pretty quickly and can get a bit drying after a few hours of wear. It goes from creamy to a comfortable matte. I like to wear these shades with a lip balm to prevent that from happening because I’m not the biggest fan of matte lips. However, if you’re a fan of creamy application with a lightweight feeling but a matte finish and decent longevity after a few hours? These lovely Crème Lux Lipsticks might be it for you. They retail for $7,50 on Colourpop.com.

Lippie Stix Matte & Matte X

The lippie stix are some of the OG products from Colourpop. I think this and the Super Shock Shadows are the products that really put Colourpop on the map. I feel like people have forgotten about the lippie stix but I’m here to remind you of their greatness, haha. You have three formulas within the lippie sticks. Crème, Matte and Matte X. I only have two of three formulas, being Matte and Matte X. The shades Cookie and Brink are a regular matte but the shades Cami, Ziggie and After Shock are Matte X. The lippie stix retail for $6 each on colourpop.com. I’m definitely going to check out the Crème shades after the No Buy.

The Matte formula is surprisingly quite creamy and doesn’t turn matte until three to four hours of wear. Before doing my research on these products I was actually convinced that Cookie had to be a Crème because it was so buttery. Having said that, they do turn matte after a while. The Matte formula is very comfortable on the lips and does have some decent longevity. The pigmentation is also really insane and highly saturated. Cookie is a shade that I will definitely repurchase once my No Buy is over. I have almost emptied it!

The Matte X is a formula that doesn’t really ruffle my feathers. It doesn’t excite me at all and I don’t really like it. The colours that I have are really lovely but as the name of the formula already mentions, VERY matte. I really hate these so much haha. But if you’re looking for a very matte lipstick with enormous longevity (seriously will not budge) and extreme pigmentation, then this might be the one for you. Again, the shades are Cami, Ziggie and After Shock.

Colourpop has released a ton of other lip products lately, like the Lip Crayons, Lux Liquid Lipsticks, etcetera. It’s hard to keep up with it haha. That’s it for my review of the Colourpop lip products in my collection. Did you like this type of post? Do you want to see this with other brands in my collection? Let me know!
Lots of love and see you next time!

    1. It truly can be too much! I’m not buying any lip products anymore until I have finished at least half of the ones I already have! 😛 The so juicy lipglosses are not nice. I don’t enjoy them. I would recommend the ultra glossy lip though! xx
