Hey loves and welcome back to peculiar Belgian!
Today I will be discussing the Pretty Fresh line by Colourpop cosmetics. I purchased their tinted moisturizer, the concealer and the sponge. Hydrating and light coverage. High coverage and creamy. Claims that are very different but is the Pretty Fresh line any good? Disclaimer: long post haha.
The Pretty Fresh Line was launched, if I remember correctly, at the end of September 2019. I was really intrigued by the products and wanted to pick them up. However, I was on a low/no-buy and already had other foundations that I wanted to pick up first. So I decided to wait and see if the products still interested me a few weeks after the release. Spoiler, they obviously did haha.

The Pretty Fresh Line consists of the Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Tinted Moisturizer ($14) which claims to be hydrating and lightweight with light coverage leaving your skin tone even, fresh and healthy-looking. Hyaluronic acid and coconut water support the skin’s hydration and is supposed to work for all skin types. There’s also the Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer ($9) which claims to be creamy, cushiony and full coverage which blends seamlessly into the skin and has a natural, fresh finish. It also contains hyaluronic acid and coconut water to hydrate the skin whilst covering blemishes or pigmentation. I was surprised to find out that the coverage of both products within the same line is different. One is full coverage whilst the other is light coverage. More about that later.

The other products in the Pretty Fresh line are the Hydrating Setting Mist ($12), Hydrating Primer ($12) and two sponges. I decided to buy the Blending Sponge ($7). You also have the Precision Blending Sponge ($5). It had been a very long time since a full collection by Colourpop had taken my interest (mainly because they launch so many) but this one really lingered and I decided to go for it. Let’s review!
Pretty Fresh Tinted Moisturizer ($14)
Tinted Moisturizer. If I haven’t been on the lookout since I got into sheer/dewy foundation. Unfortunately, most tinted moisturizers are quite expensive (think Laura Mercier) and if they’re cheaper, they usually are no good in formula or shade range. I think Colourpop really did something with the launch of this product and I hope more affordable brands will follow.

The formula of the Pretty Fresh Tinted Moisturizer was a bit confusing at first. Some days it wore beautifully and I really liked it and other days it was.. a disaster. I finally found out why that was. You have to be really careful when using primers with this product. I used no primer and the foundation looked great. I put on the prime & hydrate primer from Revolution Pro and it looked horrible. I put on the Beauty Bay Thirst Trap moisturizer and some days it went great, other days not so much. I would suggest using a primer with no silicone in the ingredients list. This just doesn’t work well with them.

I also attribute the weather for messing up this foundation and the hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid doesn’t seem to work for me and my dry skin and the dry weather of Belgium. There’s no humidity whatsoever and that only dries out the skin more if you wear hyaluronic acid. So I decided to only wear this foundation if the weather is nice and sunny with a bit of humidity or a chance of sweating a lot. Because that seems like the only way to make this work. But since figuring this out, I have been wearing it a lot.

But when it does work, it looks really natural on the skin. The coverage is very light and blemishes still peek through, which I’m not mad about. The longevity is also surprisingly nice. I wore it on a workday for about 10 hours and it had only faded around my skin and a little bit on my cheeks.
Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Creamy Concealer $9
The Pretty Fresh concealer. I have some thoughts. Promising a creamy formula and a natural and fresh finish. But in reality, I don’t know what to think. I was really expecting this concealer to be the complementary sister of the Tinted Moisturizer. But alas, I thought wrong. The concealer is very full coverage which looks weird with a light coverage base, as the tinted moisturizer. It’s almost as if you’ve baked your face with powder but forgot to dust it off. I only apply a few dots and it can still look a little bit weird sometimes, so that’s something to take into account.

The finish is also not what I was expecting. It’s a bit drying for my liking and because it is that way it tends to emphasize the texture of my under eyes. And I don’t have a lot of texture there. I found that applying some vaseline or any thick hydrating gel helps to prevent the dryness and makes the concealer look nice. I’m not blown away by this concealer but it is a nice concealer!

The Blending Sponge ($7)
The sponge is really lovely. It grows a lot when damp and feels really squishy. It’s soft on the skin but firm enough to blend foundation. It’s very easy to clean. But I do have to mention that it soaks up quite a bit of product. Like any sponge really. It also has a really lovely colour. It’s cute and works. I can’t write a long paragraph describing a sponge, haha.
So that’s the review on the Colourpop Pretty Fresh Tinted Moisturizer, Concealer and Sponge! I hope you enjoyed it. I definitely like all the product but they’re not ‘I love it’ products. But I do recommend them if you’re looking for a nice and cheap tinted moisturizer or concealer!
Lots of love and see you next time!
