Browsing through the internet, I found what’s supposed to be the most hyped up K-Beauty product. Dear folks, I present to you, known as the ‘makeup gripper’ and the ‘super primer’: the J.One Jelly Pack Primer.
What is the J.One Jelly Pack primer, what’ special about it and who created this apparently wonderful product? The creator was the famous Korean actress, Ha Ji-won whom claims that this product is her secret weapon for perfect makeup and skin. The J.One Jelly Pack is said to be multifunctional. You can use it as a face mask which will improve the condition of the skin. It’s also supposed to be a moisturiser due to the hyaluronic acid and niacinamide in the product which will hydrate the skin. But most importantly, it’s supposed to be the best primer ever. It should firm the skin whilst also smoothing it out. According to Ha Ji-Won, the J.One Jelly Pack primer is like a corset for your face. Interesting, isn’t it? Let’s see if the Jelly Pack can live up to these claims.
First of all, the J.One Jelly Pack primer is scentless and colourless which is pleasant. I hate when primers have a tint to them because that specific tint will not suit everyone and who wants to look silly? The formula is a very thick substance and extremely, extremely, extremely sticky. It doesn’t spread easily on top of the skin and I think this is due to the lack of silicones in the Jelly Pack. The only silicone on the ingredients list is dimethicone, however, it is quite low on the list. Silicones aid the spreadability of a product but tend to clog the pores. So, the Jelly Pack isn’t the smoothest primer and it tends to stick down to the area where you first applied it. I would suggest a certain method of application. Dispense a small amount onto the tips of your fingers and pat the product onto the face evenly. Do not rub it in. You will waste less product this way and get a better performance. The J.One Jelly Pack primer is also free of synthetic dyes, parabens and minerals.
J.One Jelly Pack as a Mask
I applied the Jelly Pack as a mask when I went to sleep. I have to admit that my skin felt hydrated but I didn’t see a significant difference when I woke up the next morning. It’s also not ideal to sleep with because it’s really sticky.
J.One Jelly Pack as a Moisturiser
Again, not my favourite way to use this mask. It’s extremely tacky to the touch and doesn’t really sink into the skin. Therefore it can be a bit annoying whilst wearing. My skin does feel less tight.
J.One Jelly Pack as a Primer
My favourite way to use this product is as a primer. The J.One Jelly Pack is really tacky therefore it grips to makeup very well and holds on to it for a long period of time. It longevities the wear of my makeup but I have to mention that it doesn’t prevent creasing in certain areas. This is most likely due to the hydrating ingredients. I wouldn’t necessarily say that this primer firms your skin and blurs all the pores of your face. There seems to be a bit of firming, however, it’s barely noticeable. My skin does look very smooth when using the Jelly Pack. This product, used as a primer, gives you a very hydrated look which shines through a foundation. So, it gives you a nice dewy effect.
Final Conclusion
I must say that I’m a tad disappointed in this product. Reading all the reviews made me really excited for this ‘hyped up’ product which is supposed to be the best makeup gripper ever. It’s definitely multifunctional, meaning that you can use it as a mask, a primer and a moisturiser but each method only works to a certain extent. The J.One Jelly Pack primer does give you hydration when wore during the night. However, I wouldn’t emerge it into my skincare routine. It does make your face feel a little less tight and moisturised when used as a moisturiser. Yet, your face will feel extremely tacky. It does longevities the wear of your makeup when used as a primer. Yet, it doesn’t prevent creasing. There are results that you get when using each method but those are minor and underwhelming. I will continue to use the J.One Jelly Pack as a primer until I empty it, however, I doubt that I will repurchase it. Especially for the price.
The J.One Jelly Pack primer comes in two different sizes, being 30ml and 50ml. The 30ml retails for โฌ19,00. The 50ml retails for โฌ30,50. The Jelly Pack is available on BeautyBay.
However, I would not recommend this product. It’s nice but not worth that price tag!
Hope you enjoyed this review. I will be back soon. Only three more exams to go!
Lots of love and see you next time!
